Natalie “Nat” Mullins is a Project Associate for the National Policing Institute. Prior to joining the NPI, Ms. Mullins was employed as a Detective with the Yuba County Sheriff’s Office in Yuba County, California. Ms. Mullins was assigned as a general felony investigator, but she felt most drawn to investigations involving child physical and sexual abuse, sexual and domestic violence, and human trafficking. Ms. Mullins holds certifications as a Child Forensic Interviewer and a Crisis Negotiator.

Prior to her career in law enforcement, Ms. Mullins was an investigative intern with the Butte County District Attorney’s Office in Butte County, California, where she assisted investigators and prosecutors and conducted case analyses with the hope of identifying serial sexual predators in Butte County. Ms. Mullins received her Associate’s Degree in Behavioral Sciences from Butte Community College before transferring to George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Criminology, Law & Society. Ms. Mullins went on to attend the 138^th Basic Law Enforcement Academy at Butte Community College, where she received her Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Certification, as well as an Associate’s Degree in Law Enforcement Science.
