Bio
Heather Childs has dedicated her career to advancing public safety and equal justice—first as a senior leader at the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) and now as Chief Ethics, Compliance & Security Officer at Uber.
In her current role, Heather oversees Uber’s global Trust & Security, Ethics & Compliance, and Political Law teams. She leads a comprehensive function that integrates anti-corruption compliance, platform fraud prevention, political giving oversight, and public safety operations. Under her leadership, Uber’s investigations and security teams—composed of former military, law enforcement, and intelligence professionals—have safeguarded the company’s people, places, platform, and communities worldwide. Together, they have prevented serious criminal activity, disrupted human trafficking networks, responded to natural disasters and armed conflict, and delivered tens of millions of dollars in fraud savings.
Prior to joining Uber, Heather held several senior positions at DOJ, including Associate Deputy Attorney General and Chief of Staff to Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates. In this capacity, she coordinated public safety and policy initiatives across DOJ components and agencies, managed high-stakes crises, and helped design and implement cornerstone reforms such as Attorney General Holder’s Smart on Crime Initiative and President Obama’s Clemency Initiative. Earlier in her DOJ career, she served as a trial attorney in the Criminal Division and as an Assistant U.S. Attorney, prosecuting complex criminal cases.
Heather brings to her work a deep commitment to justice, accountability, and innovation in protecting both the public and private sectors.
