Sergeant Anthony Gibson

Bio

Sergeant Gibson started at the Charleston Police Department as an intern in 2013 and now serves as the Recruitment, Selection, and Retention Supervisor. In this role, he manages the department’s recruitment initiatives, the unit’s related research efforts, and the implementation of various talent acquisition strategies, and he has renewed the agency’s commitment to officer retention through critical research and analysis. Additionally, Sergeant Gibson is a National Institute of Justice LEADS Scholar and a research collaborator with Michigan State University’s Police Staffing Observatory. He was recently elected to the board of the American Society of Evidence-Based Policing, and he serves as a lead agency representative on the National Policing Staffing Project (NIJ Award #:15PNIJ-22-GG-03139-RESS).

Sergeant Gibson has presented nationally on recruitment and retention research and program implementation. He remains driven by the powerful impact researcher and practitioner collaboration has on the law enforcement landscape.
