Implementation of a City-Wide School Safety Program in Central Falls, Rhode Island

NPI is providing training and technical assistance to the City of Central Falls, RI, to implement a school safety and security program supported by funding from the COPS Office.

Project Overview

The National Policing Institute (NPI) worked with the City of Central Falls, RI, (the smallest and poorest city in the state) to identify, apply for, and ultimately receive an Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) Grant for School Safety and Security. This grant provides for three years of funding to create and implement a city-wide school safety and security program for all public and charter schools in Central Falls.

Methodology

NPI will assist the City of Central Falls in surveying school officials, selecting vendors, and training school and police personnel.

Project Publications

The final report is expected in Fall 2022.
