Alison Sylvester is the Manager of Grants and Contracts Administration at the National Policing Institute. Alison has more than twenty years of experience managing and directing offices of sponsored research, grants, and contracts from proposal inception and development through post-award, accounting, and close-out. Her experience includes positions with public and private institutions of higher education, health care systems, hospitals, municipal government, and a research and development center funded by the Department of Defense.

Prior to working in sponsored research, grants, and contracts, Alison was a law enforcement officer working in areas of patrol, field training, homicide, and research and planning.

Alison received her MPA from Western Michigan University and her BA from Saint Leo University. Her master’s thesis included a feasibility study to implement community policing in a small city in southwest Michigan.
