With Colorado becoming the first state in the U.S. to legalize recreational marijuana, law enforcement faces new challenges in understanding and enforcing the new laws regulating marijuana use. The National Policing Institute and Colorado Association of Chiefs of Police have developed this guide to identify Colorado’s public safety challenges, solutions, and unresolved issues with legalized medical marijuana and recreational marijuana for the benefit of other law enforcement leaders who may face the challenges of legalized marijuana.
