Abstract
This report examines three protest events that occurred in Charlottesville, Virginia, in 2017 to identify flaws in law enforcement response and offer recommendations to improve policing operations at future events. The report offers four recommendations: better preparation for civil disturbance, effective management of protest events, changes in law, and restoring faith in government.
