Abstract
The Police Foundation conducted this study to understand the progress or setbacks made with the status of women in police agencies from 1970-1980. The Police Foundation used both a nationally mailed survey of state and municipal departments and five city police agencies as case studies to conduct their research. This report outlines many findings and policy recommendations that could radically change the role of women in policing and the perception of women within police agencies.
